DOT-compliant evidential breath alcohol testing (EBT) for post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, and return-to-duty scenarios. Certified Breath Alcohol Technicians using NHTSA-approved devices.
DOT alcohol testing requires evidential breath testing (EBT) devices operated by certified Breath Alcohol Technicians (BATs). Unlike drug testing with 32-hour windows, alcohol testing is extremely time-sensitive—post-accident alcohol tests must occur within 8 hours, and reasonable suspicion alcohol testing must happen immediately. These short windows leave no margin for coordination delays.
Diversified Drug Testing provides complete DOT-compliant breath alcohol testing through our network of certified BATs using calibrated EBT devices on the NHTSA Conforming Products List. We conduct screening tests, confirmation tests when required, and maintain complete chain-of-custody documentation meeting Part 40 standards.
Breath alcohol testing is available at our clinic locations and through mobile collection. Mobile BAT dispatch is particularly critical for post-accident scenarios where the 8-hour window requires immediate on-site response. Consortium members receive discounted breath alcohol testing rates.
All testing conducted with EBT devices on the NHTSA Conforming Products List with current calibration documentation.
Trained Breath Alcohol Technicians available at clinic locations and through mobile dispatch nationwide.
24/7 emergency BAT dispatch ensures post-accident alcohol testing occurs within the critical 8-hour window.
Chain-of-custody records, test results, and calibration logs maintained for audit and compliance review.
49 CFR Part 40, Subpart L establishes alcohol testing requirements:
An Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) device is an alcohol screening device on the NHTSA Conforming Products List that produces printed results. DOT alcohol testing must use approved EBT devices—portable breathalyzers not on the approved list are not acceptable for DOT testing.
A screening breath alcohol test takes approximately 5-10 minutes. If the screening result is 0.02 or greater, a confirmation test is required after a 15-minute wait. Total testing time including confirmation is typically 30-40 minutes.
A confirmed breath alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater is a DOT violation. Results between 0.02 and 0.039 require removal from safety-sensitive duties for 24 hours but are not DOT violations. Results below 0.02 are negative.
Yes. Breath alcohol testing is available through mobile collection. This is particularly important for post-accident scenarios where the 8-hour testing window requires immediate on-site response.
Join the Diversified Drug Testing consortium and gain access to DOT-compliant random testing plus exclusive member discounts on DOT physicals, mobile and clinic drug testing, breath alcohol testing, and fit-for-duty evaluations.
DOT regulations prohibit dispatching a driver without a verified negative pre-employment drug test. Access 3,000+ collection locations or schedule mobile testing at your location with MRO-verified results typically within 24-72 hours.
Missing post-accident testing deadlines compromises insurance claims and triggers federal violations. 24/7 collector dispatch ensures you meet the 8-hour alcohol and 32-hour drug testing requirements.
